Joey Turns 21

As always Bellevue keeps surprising me, last night was no exception. Joey a friend from church just turned 21 the other day and not surprisingly didn't want to spend this momentous occasion in lame Tacoma....can you blame him? So! Joey, Richard, Seth, and I went to downtown Bellevue for some kicks and cheap tricks....ok, scratch that last part. Anyway, I don't want to go to into detail but it was definitively an amazing time. Most notably, bowling at Lucky Strike, which is a luxury bowling alley....bet you Tacoma folk didn't even know such a thing as a luxury bowling alley existed? We rented the premium private bowling lanes (which is separated from the common people). IT WAS SO RAD! Here is a small pic of it~

Kinda hard to see all the details, but yes those are white leather couches....

So yeah, Happy Birthday Joey; it was really cool to chill with some quality Christan dudes. Also for those of you who still think Tacoma is a cool place, come to Bellevue and allow me to permanently change your mind.

Stupid Wrasse!

Yesterday was quite the experience; I drove all the way down to Corvallis Oregon, to visit my grandma Iona, which was awesome. I have to admit I love rummikub and tri-ominos and we played plenty! She also kicked my sorry butt at Wii!!! Didn’t see that coming! I also drove back the same day, on the road way too much. Today has been pretty crazy; I got some new fish and coral for my tank. My bicolor angel, foxface rabbitfish, and heniochus butterfly (my three coolest, most colorful fish) are all gone now do to their coral eating ways…actually the foxface ate some toxic red slime and died, the other two were taken back to the local fish store. Anyway, I was really excited to add a new fish I purchased, a royal gramma, which is bright pink and yellow to get some color back in my tank. Well my sixline wrasse was jealous on this new more beautiful fish and literally ripped him apart in like ten minutes….it was terrible. By the way when you add a fish to a reef tank it is impossible to get them out without tanking everything out of the tank. Well, even though I had that extremely unpleasant and expensive experience. Everything else seems to be doing well so far and some of them are even pictured below, enjoy:

Derasa Clam

Damicornis Coral

Brain Coral

Banggai Cardinals

Rainford Goby

Oh! and before I forget I made it on the dean's list again. Which I hope helps me get into Graduate School at UW.

Something To Do

So between undergrad and graduate school I am going to have 5 or 6 months with pretty much nothing to do. I am going to need something to do!!!...a job would be nice. Even though I do now have a Bachelors degree I do not want to get a "good" job, at least one that pays well or is a lot of work. I am after all only going to be able to work for a few months (I will have to quit when I start grad school) and don't want to get a job that is going to be hard to quit, because it is a "good" one. I basically just want a fun fairly mindless job that deals with something I like.....maybe aquariums???

Well just down the street from where I live in Bellevue they just opened a new Petsmart. When I saw them preparing it for the grand opening I thought that would be a great place to keep me busy over my break, I like animals....particularly fish, I have experience working in places like that, I can walk there, and did I mention I like fish? Anyway, I quickly sent in an application and set up an interview. Well today was the interview and they hired me on the spot. I really can't blame them....if you owned a Christian book store and Jesus applied there, I don't think you would hesitate to hire him on the spot either.

Anyway, I should start there next week and am pretty happy with this outcome. I enjoy working/cleaning my fish tanks so I would imagine doing it there will be just as much fun. Also, we didn't discuss this but I am sure I will get an employee discount which I am very much going to enjoy. I will be working there part time, starting at $10 bucks a hour.

My Brain is Mush

Wow, sorry if I have talked to you in the last few days and I made no sense; sorry if I talk to you in the coming week and make no sense. My brain has been turned into a substance not unlike Nickelodeon slime. I have so much going on right now and none of it seems to be happening smoothly- I am very stressed. It looks like at this rate I will not be done with school until Thursday the 19th.... a whole week later then I originally planned, bummer. The one glimpse of good times to come within the week will be this Saturday, when I see the Lion King in Seattle with my friend Dianna- should be fun. I just hope I don't fall asleep during it or go insane before then. Say a prayer for me.

I desperately need to keep focused, I desperately need to be relaxed. I fear I will be sleeping very little from now until the night of the 19th. I could really use the support and love of friends right now.... to keep me from going postal ;)

Red Devil Happieness

Here in Bellevue I do have my 1.66 gallon freshwater fish tank, but my brother also has a 55 gallon freshwater, which used to be my old tank (and technically is my mothers now). Recently my brother's "prized" Oscar Cichlid finally passed to the other realm (I am not a big Oscar fan). Once the Oscar fish died I took over creative control of the tank- here are the results:

Two Red Devil Cichlid (mating pair, they have babies every few months)

On top is the female

Close up of the male, he is very aggressive!

I am really excited because Misuk and Saben (sister-in-law and nephew) are going to be surprised by this when they get back from San Fransisco latter today. They are going to love it!!!
For me, just another day in aquarium paradise (not the store). God Bless.
